WHO CAN USE LIBRARY SERVICES?

Students from other university can use Reading rooms, open spaces, but can not borrow books. There is EDUROAM internet for students >>>

WHERE CAN I COPY, SCAN OR PRINT ?

Papers sent for printing can be realised after confirming identity in these devices:
  • Library (Sauletekio ave. 14, 101, 1st floor)
  • Technology and Management Sciences Reading Room (Saulėtekio ave. 11, SRC, C03)
  • Information Technology and Systems Center (Sauletekio ave. 11, I laboratory building, III floor)
  • Faculty of Architecture (AR-I, hall on the I floor, Trakų str. 1/26)
  • Faculty of Electronics (ER-I IV floor, Naugarduko str.41)
  • Faculty of Transport Engineering (TR-I hall on the IV floor, Plytinės str. 27)

HOW DO I GET PLACE FOR INDIVIDUAL OR GROUP WORK?

You need to fill special forms if you want to reserve the room >>>

WHO CAN RESERVE WORK ROOMS?

Only VGTU students.

HOW DO I UPLOAD THE FINAL THESIS TO ELABA ETD SYSTEM?

You need to connect to eLABa ETD with your institution user account. 
 

WHERE CAN I BIND DOCUMENTS?

You can bind documents in Central Library, Lending and Storage Department Sauletekio ave. 14,101, I-V 9 a.m.-9 p.m.

BOOKS BORROWING/RETURNING

HOW CAN I ORDER A BOOK OR A COPY OF PUBLICATION PART?

Copy by e-mail - 1 page 0,04 EUR*
Copy by paper (black and white copy) - 1 page 0,04 EUR+ post charge **
 
*For a copy of publication part in electronic or paper format user has to pay after service receiving via bank or by coming to the library. User must to pay immediately if total sum of all orderings reach 10,00 EUR.
**Price of sending a copy of publication part in paper format depends from weight and post rates of Lithuania.

HOW AND WHERE CAN I RETURN BOOKS?

During weekdays readers can give books back in the Lending and Storage Department or in the book return device at the entrance of Central library (Saulėtekio ave. 14) at any time.

HOW MUCH IS A LIBRARY FINE PER DAY?

Remember: be attentive and return books in time! Users, who fail to return a book, may be fined (the fine goes every day to every taken book). The fine has been rated by the Rector:
• 0,07 EUR if a book was given for one semester;
• 0,14 EUR if a book was given for a shorter time than one semester.

HOW TO RENEW BOOKS?

The documents can be renewed via phone (8-5) 274 49 00 or via e-mail biblioteka@vgtu.lt, or online connecting to library e-catalog. The renewal of books is possible if they were given for a semester. Documents can be renewed only once. The term of using the documents can be prolonged, if they are not required by other reader.

HOW TO GET PUBLICATION FROM OTHER LITHUANIAN OR FOREIGN LIBRARIES?

Readers must an exact bibliographic description of the publication post via special e-form - for book it‘s necessary to write: title, author(s), publishing year, ISBN; - for article it‘s necessary to write: title, author(s), source title, volume, number, year, pages, ISSN.

DATABASES

WHAT IS TRIAL DATABASES?

It is a database which is available only for few months. 

WHAT IS SUBSCRIBED DATABASES?

Databases include full-text articles, conference reports, books, statistics and bibliographic documents (full text is not available in bibliographic documents). There is information describing  articles, monographs or textbooks – author, title, year, location, summary.
VGTU community has access to 30 of various disciplines and thematic books and journals databases, 3 archives and 1 bibliographic information management tool.

CAN I COPY THE INFORMATION FROM VGTU LIBRARY SUBSCRIBED DATABASES?

The information from VGTU library subscribed databases could be copied (downloaded to computer, print) only for personal academic purposes and only for small quantities. It is strictly prohibited information transfer to third parties, using in intranet or for commercial purposes. The transference of login data to third parties is also strictly prohibited. The author’s rights in Lithuania are defended by Copyright and Related Rights Act.

WHAT KIND OF PUBLICATIONS ARE REGISTER AT VGTU PUBLICATIONS DATABASE (PDB)?

Having VGTU assignment, or assigned to any authority.

WHEN CAN I REGISTER AN ARTICLE?

When a publication that contains an article is giving the numbersequence.
 

CAN I REGISTER AN ARTICLE WHICH WAS READ AT CONFERENCE ?

  • possible, if an article was published
  • not register which was read without publishing data

CAN I REGISTER AN ARTICLE WHICH WAS PUBLISHED AT NEWSPAPER OR INTERNET WEBSITE?

These articles are not accepted at VGTU PDB.

HOW IS COUNTED NOT REGISTER PUBLICATIONS FROM EARLIER YEARS?

  • Not older than 5 years publications (status-late) are counted on a current year report.
  • Others are counted on the basis of the date of publication of annual report.

HOW PDB PUBLICATION IS ASSIGNED TO DEPARTMENT AND POSITION?

  • If author works at few departments - is assigned only for one.
  • If author has few positions - by registration form specified position.

HOW IS COUNTED AUTHOR'S CONTRIBUTION?

  • Articles - by equal parts, divided by number of authors.
  • Books - by author quire, as indicated in the contract for printing or nuber of pages divided by 14.
  • If there are multiple institutions – author 's contribution still divided by the number of institutions.

HOW ARE DIVIDED PUBLICATIONS FROM THOMSON REUTER'S DATABASES?

Publications from Thomson Reuters Web of Science are divided by database and document type.
By database:
  • Article from Thomson Reuters Web of Science (S1) – if an article posted on Thomson Reuters Web of Science (Science Citation Index Expanded, Social Sciences Citation Index; Arts & Humanities Citation Index; Emerging Sources Citation Index) databases.
  • Article from conferences Thomson Reuters Web of Science (P1a) – if an article posten on homson Reuters Web of Science (Conference Proceedings Citation Index-Science; Conference Proceedings Citation Index-Social Science & Humanities) databases.
  • Article from other Databases (S4) – if an article posted on other databases.
By document's type:
  • Article from Thomson Reuters Web of Science (S1) or article from other databases (S4) – if document‘s type is Article.
  • Article (review, information, encyclopaedic) (S8) – if document type is Biographical-Item or Editorial materials.
  • Thesis from Thomson Reuters Web of Science (T1a) (T1c) or Thesis from international databases– if document type is Meetings, Abstracts.

WHICH YEAR PUBLICATIONS AFFECT PART OF VARIABLE SALARY?

  • Publications report of two calendar years – not according publishing but registration’s date.
